Part of the above archives can be consulted online. If PDFs are available, these can be found through the finding aids.
Not everything that has been digitised can be accessed through the website. The files of digitised archives with limited access can only be consulted in NIOD's reading room after receiving permission to view the documents.
Library
Much of the library's material is copyright-protected and cannot be shared online. Several publications of which NIOD holds the copyright have meanwhile been digitised (among others De Jong's Het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden in de Tweede Wereldoorlog (‘The Kingdom of the Netherlands During the Second World War’). A number of NIOD publications will be made available through niod.nl over the next few years. A large number of diaries, war newspapers, brochures, and resistance publications have also been digitised, mainly within the framework of the Geheugen van Nederland (‘the Memory of the Netherlands’) project. You can find them through the general search function of the website or through the Netwerk Oorlogsbronnen (‘Dutch Network of War Collections'’).
Image archive
The WWII Image Bank contains, in addition to some thirty other collections, the image collection of NIOD, with photographs, drawings, pamphlets, etc.
Netwerk Oorlogsbronnen (‘War Resources Network’)
The Netwerk Oorlogsbronnen (‘Dutch Network of War Collections') has a search function that allows a large number of important WWII collections in the Netherlands to be searched.
