Petar Finci, MA
Biography
Petar Finci is a researcher at the NIOD Institute for War, Holocaust, and Genocide Studies, currently involved with the project of creating a digital research environment (DRE) related to the 1991-2001 wars in the former Yugoslavia. The DRE will gather and make available in one place information about both public and private entities that hold archives and documentary collections relevant to the research of different aspects of the wars. In parallel, and in cooperation with the NIOD research department, the project will encourage the creation of an international network of researchers and archival institutions to promote study of the Yugoslav Wars and thus contribute to facilitating further research.
Prior to NIOD, Finci worked for the International Committee of the Red Cross, as an archival researcher looking for information about the fate and whereabouts of nearly 11,000 people still missing from the 1991-2001 wars in the former Yugoslavia. Before that, Finci was part of the Outreach Programme of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, where he contributed to the production, writing and directing of several documentary films about the work of the Tribunal.
