Biography
Since February 2024, Wiebe has joined the NIOD as junior researcher into colonial museum collections and archives. He works within the Colonial Collections Consortium on creating a set of digital research aids that should guide provenance researchers through the Dutch heritage field.
Wiebe studied History at Utrecht Univeristy and Museum Studies at the University of Amsterdam. He graduated in 2023 delivering a thesis that critically analyzed forms of digital restitution by focusing on the possibilities of digital infrastructures to foreground the interests of source communities and to decolonize the practice of restitution.
